NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course:

Attendees must be age 21 or above. This course is 9 hours long and is conducted in a classroom and at a shooting facility. 

Range Safety Officer candidates will learn: 

• RSO Roles and Responsibilities: Understanding the duties and expectations of a Range Safety Officer.

• Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Learning and applying the procedures for safe range operations.

• Range Inspection and Rules: Knowing how to inspect a range for safety hazards and enforcing range rules.

• Range Safety Briefings: Understanding how to conduct effective safety briefings for shooters.

• Emergency Procedures: Learning how to respond to emergencies on the range.

• Firearm Stoppages and Malfunctions: Identifying and clearing common firearm stoppages and malfunctions.
